Gun Control
An Emotional Political Agenda

Over the last couple of months we have seen the aggressive  drive for more gun control. Mass murderers with guns have hit the news over the last few years. The most recent tragedy at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown Connecticut   has launched an urgent outcry for gun control.

The gunman was a mentally unstable man named Adam Lanza. This was the second deadliest mass shooting by a single person in the history of the United States. A preceding tragedy at the Century Movie theater on July 20, 2012 in Aurora Colorado in which twelve people were killed and fifty-eight wounded also shocked the nation. The gunman, James Egan Holmes, was another mentally unstable individual. On January 8, 2011, Congresswoman Gabby Gifford was shot in the head at a supermarket in Casas Adobes, Arizona. In that shooting thirteen people were injured and six killed. The gunman, Jared Lee Loughner was also mentally unstable. The worst massacre by a single gunman in the United States occurred on April 16th, 2007 at the campus of Virginia Polytechnic and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. In that shooting thirty-two people were killed and seventeen were wounded. The gunman was a south Korean student, Seung-Hui Cho. He was also mentally disturbed.

All these mass shootings have been perpetrated by  individuals who have severe mental disorders. It is not by law-abiding citizens. Instead of taking guns away from law-abiding citizens, we should have a thorough istigation into the mental health system in this country. The screening of mentally ill patients and stricter "red flags" to watch for in  mentally unstable individuals who should be investigated. Instead of allocating millions of dollars in entitlement programs, take that money and put it into an effective mental health care system in this country.

The agenda to eliminate gun violence is dominated by an emotional reaction to catastrophic tragedies in which weapons were used.
The political proponents of strict gun control laws have not mentioned the true culprits of gun violence in this country, but instead we have been overwhelmed in the news media and in political circles  with the term "assault weapon." All advocates for gun control want to make it illegal to own an "assault weapon."  Let us define an "assault weapon.” The military definition is a weapon that will selectively fire automatic or semiautomatic.

The political definition of an "assault weapon" is a weapon that will fire semiautomatically from a magazine. The pro-gun  control proponents have even openly stated "anything that looks like an assault weapon." Any semiautomatic rifle can be made to look like an assault weapon. Does this political agenda include that type of weapon? Does this include semiautomatic shotguns and pistols commonly used for sport by law-abiding citizens? The entire argument against "assault weapons" is based on emotion and non specific terms to eliminate a lot of weapons that are safely used by law-abiding citizens. Weapons that are truly automatic weapons have been banned from the public for quite a few years!
The last school shooting in Israel occurred in the mid 1970s. Israel is in a much more dangerous and volatile part of the world than the United States. How did they stop this? They built a 20’-30’ wire fence around all schools. This fence has one gate to enter through. It is manned by an armed guard who screens all who enter. All schools in this country should have such protection. Areas of public gatherings should also have armed, trained security guards. College campuses should have a better trained police force and security. This will go a long way toward curbing the gun violence.
Just last year, Chicago Illinois had more people killed by guns than all killed coalition forces in Afghanistan. These murders in Chicago were not by law-abiding citizens, but by habitual criminals who used weapons obtained through  illegal  sources.

The United States needs to have strict mandatory  punishment for those crimes committed with a gun. This means not only a lengthy sentence, but NO possibility of parole for good behavior. These criminals need to be taken off the streets so they can’t hurt people.
As we look deeper into gun control, we have to examine society in general.

We can categorize society into two factions. There are those in society who are driven by emotions, and those in society who base their judgements on logic. Unfortunately, the driving force behind  gun control is the emotionally driven individuals.  The first reaction to such gun tragedies is to attack the main focus of the incident- guns. This does not address the facts which logically point to constructive control of violence in this country. The facts and more logical solutions have been already mentioned in this article.

There is an agenda in this country that is much more dangerous and is at the nucleus of gun control. This agenda is behind most political moves going on in America today. Whether people admit it or not, America is no longer a Republic. There are no longer just two political parties. There is a third and most dangerous party that hasseized America and is bringing her to her knees. This third party has disguised itself as the Democratic Party. It is headed by our President Obama. Redistribution of wealth and a centralized government are socialism. People can bury their heads in the sand like an ostrich and ignore reality, or they can look and see.
A previous article written by this author, "The Fall of America" discusses the takeover of governments by Socialists/Marxists.
One of the final steps in this political conversion is the seizing and confiscation of weapons owned by the general populace. This has been seen in Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, China and North Korea. You see this in Socialized Europe and Canada.

Once weapons are seized then the government has absolute control. If the government wants to take private property, there is nothing to stop them. If the Jewish victims of the Holocaust would have had weapons, there wouldn’t have been the mass genocidal atrocities committed by the Nazis in World War II. One of the points of the 2nd Amendment  is to protect the people against tyranny.

There was never a mention or whisper about gun control during Obama’s first term in office. It would have been too volatile an issue to attack. It is no coincidence that Obama launched an all out a campaign for gun control not more than a month into his second term. It is no coincidence that Hillary Clinton was involved with  the Small Arms Treaty through the United Nations to have that organization control the selling or firearms and ammunition which would affect this country. It is part of the “change” he promised.

America is under a transformation to a Socialistic/Marxist government. People need to read Karl Marx’s and Frederick Engel’s "Communist Manifesto," or Hitler’s "Mein Kampf." It is no coincidence that Obama’s mentor was Frank Marshall Davis. He was a registered Communist in this country. It is no coincidence that another Obama mentor was Saul Alinsky, who wrote "Rules for Radicals" which addressed the 1960s generation of radicals, and outlined his views on organizing for mass power. And, of course, there was the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. It is not a coincidence that there was an Obama association with Bill Ayers and Aberdeen Dorn, founders of the radical militant group "The Weatherman." This group was involved with radically changing society through violence.

People need to wake up in this country. People need to deal with logic and not emotions. Look at the facts. Those who vote for party and not issues need to step back and ask themselves, "Just what party am I voting for?"

The emotionally driven liberals who came out of the hippie movement during the 1960s need to engage in intelligent arguments of logic. This gun control debate is a dismal prediction of what is ahead for traditional America. Americans need to deal with facts and logic rather than political agendas and emotions.

"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!"
-Adolph Hitler, 1935 ( The Weapons Act of Nazi Germany)
